Open-source licences & attributions

chronolapse is built on free and open-source software. The components below are sent to your browser or used to build the site, and we’re grateful to their authors. We collect no third-party trackers — these are the only outside pieces involved.

Map data

  • OpenStreetMap — ODbL 1.0 (data); CC-BY-SA (cartography). © OpenStreetMap contributors. Map tiles and region names derive from OpenStreetMap; this attribution also appears on the map itself.

In your browser

These run client-side, so their licences travel with the copy your browser downloads.

  • Leaflet — BSD-2-Clause. © 2010–2024 Volodymyr Agafonkin; © 2010–2011 CloudMade.
  • React & React-DOM — MIT. © Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates.
  • Next.js — MIT. © Vercel, Inc..

Typefaces

The site’s fonts are self-hosted (no font CDN) under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The full licence text is bundled at /fonts/OFL.txt.

  • Fraunces — SIL OFL-1.1. © The Fraunces Project Authors.
  • Work Sans — SIL OFL-1.1. © The Work Sans Project Authors.
  • Space Mono — SIL OFL-1.1. © The Space Mono Project Authors.

On our servers

These power the image-processing worker and APIs. They run only on our servers and are never sent to your browser; listed here for transparency.

  • Pillow — MIT-CMU (HPND). © Jeffrey A. Clark and contributors.
  • OpenCV — Apache-2.0. © OpenCV team.
  • Haar cascade: haarcascade_russian_plate_number.xml — Apache-2.0. © OpenCV team & contributors. The number-plate detection model (bundled with OpenCV) used to find — and always blur — vehicle registration plates.
  • YuNet face detection model — MIT. © Shiqi Yu (libfacedetection), via OpenCV Zoo. The face detection model used to enforce each location's face policy (blur or discard).
  • YOLOX-nano object detection model — Apache-2.0. © Megvii, Inc. (YOLOX). The vehicle detection model that gates number-plate blurring: plates are only searched for within detected vehicles.
  • NudeNet — MIT. © notAI.tech (Praneeth Bedapudi).
  • ONNX Runtime — MIT. © Microsoft Corporation.
  • boto3 / botocore — Apache-2.0. © Amazon.com, Inc..
  • psycopg — LGPL-3.0. © The Psycopg Team.
